35 million plastic bottles are used every day in the UK. This project aims to raise awareness of the consumption of single use plastics by creating a ‘garden of the deep’. Working together with schools, charities and community groups, the project proposes to make 3500 plastic flowers created from the bottles and debris I find on the beach. Each flower will represent 10,000 bottles to provide a scale relating to the 35 million used daily. The garden will take the form of an installation to visualise and emphasise issues of single use plastic in a time of environmental chaos. Reducing our consumption and raising awareness is the only way to effect change.
